When Mel’s mom first reached out to me about capturing senior photos for her daughter, we knew we wanted something special—something that felt like her. We discussed a few different options: the classic small-town studio look, a vibrant city vibe, or something more serene and natural. In the end, we landed on Newfields Garden in Indianapolis, and it couldn’t have been more perfect.

If you’ve never been to Newfields Garden, let me tell you—it’s a photographer’s dream. Lush landscaping, vibrant flowers, and charming walking paths provide a magical backdrop for senior photography sessions in Indianapolis. Every corner of this place bursts with color and character, giving Mel’s photos an elegant yet playful feel that matched her personality beautifully.

A Natural in Front of the Camera

Mel is a senior at Avon High School in Avon, Indiana, and while she’d never had professional photos taken before, you wouldn’t know it from the way she owned her session! She was such a natural in front of the camera—graceful, confident, and full of life. Her smile lit up every frame, and I truly feel like her spirit shines through in every photo.

Honoring Her Beautiful Mexican Heritage

One of my favorite moments during the session was when Mel wore a vibrant, colorful sash that her mom had given her. The beautiful colors were a proud nod to her Mexican heritage, and it added such a meaningful, personal touch to her portraits. I absolutely love when seniors bring their own style and cultural flare to the session—it makes each gallery so much more authentic and powerful.

Future Plans and Military Connection

Mel shared with me that she’s considering a career in the medical field, but she’s also thinking about possibly joining the U.S. Army. As a fellow veteran, I loved chatting with her about my time in the military. If she decides to pursue that path, I’d be more than happy to connect again and offer support or advice. No matter what she chooses, I know she’ll thrive—she has that quiet strength and determination that will take her far.
